10 Things You Can Expect From Me

Expectations are everything right? I don’t know about you, but I don’t like going in blind. So why would I expect you to? I figured I would break it down so you’ll know exactly what you can expect from me.

First, my objective:

My objective is easy. I’m here to help you establish healthy habits that actually stick. I want to help you bridge the gap between knowing what to do and actually applying it. Why I’m doing this:

Too often I hear people say they want to be in better shape, but nothing they’ve tried has worked. Or worse, they’ve lost the motivation to do anything about it. I’m so sick of the boring, bland, intense from the start programs that aren’t sustainable and don’t produce real results that stick. Most of us are average, busy people who need real solutions with real results.

We look at pictures of fitness models as “inspiration” (don’t worry, I do it too), but that’s not actually what we want to look like. In reality, we just want to feel confident and be able to look forward to the summer. Not only that, but most of us don’t have the time or energy to devote our lives to our health. When you’re booked in meetings, going into the office early, traveling or doing any one of the other 942 things you need to be doing, you need a realistic solution.

Diets and trainers can get expensive and can be time consuming. It seems like we’re all saying “it’s really all about making healthy lifestyle changes.” But are we doing that? That sure isn’t what the diets and programs are focused on. But it is what I’m focused on. A healthy, sustainable lifestyle is absolutely attainable. Even amid a crazy work schedule and other responsibilities that life brings along, it’s practical to have a healthy lifestyle and it really is the best solution.


Here’s the thing: so many blogs these days have daily posts with quick, top 5 tips. I’m guilty of reading them too. On occasion I find myself browsing through 10 different blogs and skimming through the content to find that I’ve basically just read 10 variations of the same article. It’s always brief. There’s nothing wrong with the writing or the information. But you know what I’ve noticed? It doesn’t help me do anything. I read the tips and I think “ya, that’s nice” or “that’s a good idea” or “hmm.. Hadn’t thought of that.” Those posts barely skim the surface. Because they don’t really dive into any subjects, I usually don’t have enough information to take any action. It’s a good read, but it doesn’t end up getting me very far. So I’m taking a different approach. Here’s what I’m going to do for you:

1. Dive Deep.

We’re going to dive deep into subjects. Talk about the what's, why's, how's and really try to get to the nitty-gritty. I want you to have valuable information so you can actually learn to integrate healthy habits on your own.

For example, instead of telling you to eat with your non-dominant hand to help lose weight (seriously, someone just told me she read that) - instead of that, I would tell you that your body typically digests food slower than you eat. Have you ever noticed that you feel totally fine while eating, but 20 minutes later you’re so stuffed you can barely move? When you eat a little slower, it gives your body the chance to digest the food before you finish shoveling it all down. You’re basically giving your digestion a chance to catch up with your consumption. When they’re on the same (or similar) schedule, it means it will be easier to know when you’re full.

When you have the information, you can decide how you can best apply it. Maybe eating with your non-dominant hand helps. Or maybe you force yourself to take a smaller first serving. Or maybe you just eat slower.

2. Treat you as an individual.

Here’s another reason why knowledge is power. (I know, I’m also cringing a little that I just cliched you). EVERYBODY IS DIFFERENT. I know you might not be getting a whole lot of health/fitness blogs telling you that, but it’s true. And I’m betting you already knew that. Helping you learn the principles and knowledge behind the skills will help you turn them into actionable habits that work for YOU. We all like different foods and different exercises. We have different schedules, different strengths and weaknesses. There are no silver bullets. I promise not to give you a “one size fits all” solution. Instead, I’m going to teach you the principles and help walk you through the process of translating those principles into a lifestyle that suits you. Habits that work for you!

3. Empower you to take action.

What good is all of this information if it isn’t actually helping you? I want to help you reach your goals. I want you to see that healthy changes and that “healthy, sustainable lifestyle” we all keep hearing about -- can be a reality. For YOU. I want to provide you with tons of useful information that helps you take action and incorporate variety into your healthy lifestyle so you don’t get bored. As often as I can, I’ll create and give away free worksheets, cheat sheets, checklists and other materials that will actually help you get there. 4. Focus on quality over quantity blog posts.

Here’s the thing. I don’t want to overwhelm you with too much information. Also, I wouldn’t be able to keep up with multiple posts a week. Instead of focusing on quantity and only having the time to skim the surface with each post I give you, I’m going to focus on quality. High quality, useful, information-rich, action-rich content. That means the posts are going to be long. You might have to come back more than once to read them, but that’s ok. I would rather the information be helpful. You can know that every time I post, it’ll be worth reading. It will actually help you. And I will do my very best to cut out the fluff and make sure I’m not putting a ton of words on the page just for the sake of words on a page.

5. Offer Inside Access.

6. Ignore fads.

Do I really need to explain this one? I really hope you don’t want me to tell you to try a new diet pill or shake every 6 months, because I really don’t want to do that. I don’t believe in them. I’m not saying they never work. I’m saying I’m not a fan. I think there’s a better way. In fact, I think it’s absolutely unnecessary for anyone to buy into a product that’s only successful if you keep buying it every month for the rest of your life. Do you know how much that costs!? Not to mention the fact that you’ll probably get so dependent on it that you might forget to how to be healthy without it. I could totally get on my soapbox about this, but I’ll refrain. The point is, I’m not going to talk to you about fads because I’m not a fan and I don’t believe in them. Instead, I’ll only talk to you about realistic changes and habits that work and that last.

7. Teach What I Know First-Hand.

I’ll help you learn from my own experiences - what worked, what didn’t work, what kind of worked - I’ll give you all of it. I’m not going to tell you about something unless I’ve tried it. I’ll be brutally honest and take all of the experiences and trial and error I’ve had over the past 10+ years to expedite your process. One thing I’ll tell you right now is that I’m still learning. I bet I’ll be learning for the rest of my life. Isn’t that part of growing? This is part of my honesty. I’m not going to claim to know everything, but the things I do know - I want to give you full access to and I want to teach you how to accomplish the same results I have - in a MUCH shorter timeframe, which is why I created a free 7-day course to get you started. 8. Listen.

9. Be realistic.

We all have lives. Lives that are busy and full of responsibility and LOTS and LOTS to do and balance. I realize that you likely work and have a family and a personal life. Don’t worry, I do too. I don’t expect you to drop everything and turn 100% of your focus toward your eating and exercise habits. It’s unrealistic. I know time is precious.

I’m also not going to ask you to starve yourself or eat weird foods. Variety and real food are key to a healthy lifestyle that actually works. And what’s more? I’m not going to ask you to completely cut anything out of your diet (unless a doctor has told you to or you’re allergic - then you should definitely cut those things out for good). Here’s a secret: I eat dark chocolate and/or ice cream almost every day and I don’t feel guilty about it.

Like I said before, I’m not into fads and I’m not going to teach you anything that I haven’t tried myself. And me? I’m real. I don’t want to post half naked pictures of myself that will float around the internet for the rest of my life and end up haunting my grandchildren one day - or worse - end up on a client’s screen when I show up for a meeting (eek!). I just want to be healthy. I want the energy to do the things I want. I want to feel confident. I want the exhilaration of success that comes from challenging myself -- and I want you to experience the same.

10. Help you do it on your own.

Just in case I wasn’t clear, I want to empower you do it on your own. I’m here to help you learn how to create your own healthy habits. I’m not here to make you have the exact habits that I have. If you don’t like dark chocolate, you don’t have to eat it! I realize we’re different people, which means the specifics are going to be different for you and me. The goal: for you to know what to eat in order to look and feel your best. Another goal: to know how to actually find effective ways to exercise that you enjoy. My goal is that you stop paying for diets and trainers to help do these things “for” you. Instead, I want you to learn how to do them on your own. Because I know you can.
